A New Stage in Uzbekistan’s International Sports Cooperation

A New Stage in Uzbekistan’s International Sports Cooperation

On June 28, 2025, a significant and historic decision was made for the future of sports in Uzbekistan during international negotiations held in Sochi, Russian Federation.

President of the Uzbekistan ITF Taekwon‑Do National Association, Mr. Laziz Khasanov, was officially appointed as Vice President of the International Alliance of the BRICS Strategic Projects Sports Center, as well as the official representative of the Alliance in the Republic of Uzbekistan.

This prestigious appointment stands as a recognition of Mr. Khasanov’s dedication, integrity, and decades-long contribution to the development of national sports. His achievements in both international and local arenas were highly appreciated and acknowledged by the global sports community.

This BRICS-level appointment marks a major step toward strengthening Uzbekistan’s presence on the international sports stage, fostering new cooperation opportunities, and creating a stronger foundation for youth development and global engagement.

It is worth noting that in 2025, ITF Taekwon‑Do was officially included in the BRICS Games program. This historic milestone marks the first-ever inclusion of the original Taekwon‑Do, founded by General Choi Hong Hi, in the official sporting program of BRICS.

In 2026, the next BRICS Games will take place in Sochi, Russia, and for the first time ever, ITF Taekwon‑Do athletes will participate representing Uzbekistan. This is not only a great honor for our athletes but also a historic moment for the development and recognition of Taekwon‑Do on the world stage.
